FastTrackNews is a free portable usenet client and RSS feed reader, Blog client and news aggregator. The program reduces the time and effort needed to regularly check mass media websites for updates and can be used as news and blog browser. Once subscribed to a feed, the software is able to check for new content at user-determined intervals and retrieve the update. You can easily organize rss and nntp news channels in a fully customizable tree structure and browse actual news articles using built-in or external webbrowser. FastTrack News uses a web feed to retrieve syndicated news given in XML-based formats (Atom, RSS, etc.), rapidly downloads news articles from various web sources in background and displays them in comfortable customizable views. The program supports password protected feeds, has the ability to expire news items so they get deleted after a certain amount of days. The RSS content is sometimes described as being "pulled" to the subscriber, as opposed to "pushed" with mailing list or Internet Messaging. Unlike recipients of some "pushed" information, the RSS Reader user can easily unsubscribe from a feed. FastTrack News is simple and easy to use, offers a no-nonsense Outlook Express-like user interface. With FastTrackNews you will be keep informed about the most recent news. The program is free, does not require installation, occupies far less space on HD/RAM than other similar paid programs, does not contain any annoying ad banners.

HS NTP C Source Library 1.0 By Hillstone Software

HS NTP is a software library in C (supplied with full source code) which implements the client side of Network Time Protocol (POP3) over UDP socket layer according to RFC1769 and RFC1305. HS NTP Library allows a user application to synchronise local system time to remote NTP server time. First user application calls HS NTP initialisation function supplying pointers to callback functions in user code for timer management and for reporting NTP events to user. To obtain time difference between local system and remote NTP server, the user application calls HsNtpGetTime function, specifying NTP server name or IP address and source UDP port to use. HS NTP library then resolves the server name, formats and sends NTP time request packet according to RFC1305 and RFC1769 standard. Once HS NTP has received NTP time reply from NTP server it analyses the reply and reports the resulting time difference to user application via callback function. The parameters to this event callback contain the offset value in seconds necessary to apply to local clock in order to synchronize it to the time at remote NTP server. Modular design makes it easy to port HS NTP protocol module to any environment. HS NTP internally at a lower layer interfaces to HS Sock library which provides UDP transport services. User application need not worry about Winsock - HS NTP does all transmission, reception and event handling over socket layer.
