AC,DC are a hard rock band formed in Sydney, Australia in 1973 by brothers Angus and Malcolm Young. The band are considered pioneers of heavy metal, alongside bands such as Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and Black Sabbath. Its members, however, have always classified their music as rock n roll . AC,DC underwent several line-up changes before releasing their first album, High Voltage, in 1975. Membership remained stable until bassist Cliff Williams replaced Mark Evans in 1977. In 1979, the band recorded their highly successful album, Highway to Hell. Lead singer and co-songwriter Bon Scott died on February 19, 1980, after a night of heavy alcohol consumption. The group briefly considered disbanding, but soon ex-Geordie singer Brian Johnson was selected as Scott s replacement. Later that year, the band released their biggest-selling album, Back in Black. The band s next album, For Those About to Rock We Salute You, was also highly successful and was the first hard rock album to reach #1 in the United States. AC,DC declined in popularity soon after the departure of drummer Phil Rudd in 1983. Poor record sales continued until the release of The Razors Edge in 1990. Phil Rudd returned in 1994 and contributed to the band s 1995 album Ballbreaker. Stiff Upper Lip was released in 2000 and was well-received by critics. Akon (born Aliaune Damala Bouga Time Puru Nacka Lu Lu Lu Badara Akon Thiam on April 30, 1973 is a Senegalese-American hip hop and R and B singer, songwriter, occasional rapper and record producer. Akon rose to fame in 2004 following the release of his single Locked Up from his debut album Trouble. His second album, Konvicted, earned him a Grammy Award nomination for the single Smack That . He is the founder of Konvict Muzik and Kon Live Distribution. He is well known for singing hooks and has over 130 guest appearances and 21 Billboard Hot 100 songs to his credit. He is the only artist to ever accomplish the feat of holding both the number one and two spots simultaneously on the Billboard Hot 100 charts twice. Akon often goes by the shorter, Aliaune Thiam. He is the son of jazz percussionist, Mor Thiam. He was born in St. Louis, Senegal, but grew up in Jersey City, New Jersey. He recorded his first song, Operations of Nature, at the age of fifteen. He was then subsequently jailed for armed robbery and drug distribution charges, and used his time in prison to work on his music. Upon release, Akon began writing and recording tracks in his home studio. The tapes found their way to SRC,Universal, which released Akon s debut LP Trouble in June 2004. The album is a hybrid of Akon s silky, West African-styled vocals mixed with East Coast and Southern beats. Most of Akon s songs begin with the sound of the clank of a jail cell with him uttering the word Konvict. This screensaver is free, and contains no spyware or virus. Augello-Cook on January 25, 1980 or 1981) is an American R and B and soul singer, songwriter, pianist, record producer, actress, philanthropist, and author who has sold over twenty-seven million records worldwide and has won numerous awards, including nine Grammy Awards, eleven Billboard Music Awards, and three American Music Awards. Keys is an only child born to an Irish-Italian mother, Teresa Terri Augello (a paralegal and part-time actress), and a Jamaican father, Craig Cook (a flight attendant), in the Manhattan neighborhood of Harlem, New York City, New York. Keys graduated from the Professional Performing Arts School, a prestigious high school in Manhattan, as valedictorian at the age of sixteen. Although accepted to Columbia University with a scholarship, she decided to drop out and pursue her musical career. Keys signed a demo deal with Jermaine Dupri and his So So Def label, then distributed by Columbia Records. She co-wrote and recorded a song entitled Dah Dee Dah (Sexy Thing) , which appeared on the soundtrack to the 1997 blockbuster, Men in Black. The song was Keys first professional recording; however, it was never released as a single and her record contract with Columbia Records ended quickly. Keys later met Clive Davis, who signed her to Arista Records, which has since disbanded. Following Davis to his newly-formed J Records label, she recorded the songs Rock wit U and Rear View Mirror , featured on the soundtracks to the films Shaft (2000) and Dr. Dolittle 2 (2001) respectively.
